A Successful School Year in 2008-2009
July 23, 2009 on 2:57 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsCrayons2Calculators (C2C) had a busy school year in 2008-2009!
This year C2C:
• Held quarterly giveaway events
• Served 562 teachers
• Gave away school supplies valued at over $60,000
• Invited 23 schools to shop at the warehouse
• Provided supplies to students at the elementary, middle and high school level
Here’s what we heard from some of the teachers that came to giveaways:
“It’s the small supplies that are constantly useful and really add up over time, when my students feel like we can provide the classroom basics they feel like we care about them. Pencils, erasers, glue and scissors go a long way toward investing a middle school student in education.” - Neal Middle School Teacher
“Being a classroom teacher is arewarding job but one of the challenges is not having the materials or supplies that I need. I am thankful for the items from C2C - they will be used to help my students succeed.” RN Harris Elementary Teacher
We would also like to thank the following supporters— Biogen Idec, City of Durham, Enterprising Leadership Initiative, Duke Stores, Duke University Retirees Outreach, Durham Area Realtor Association, Maverick Capital, Standard Pacific Homes, and many individual donors.
